| ABOUT ME: I have been enjoying Cardigan Welsh Corgis for the past five years. In May 2004, I attended the Cardigan National Speciality. I met Cooper's breeder there. Cooper is my Cardigan corgi. Cooper was born in December 2004, and that is the beginning of what my husband calls "an obsession." |

| Cooper came home with me at 10 weeks old, and he was already housebroke!! I love that dog more than I can say. He's devoted, funny, loves people and children, and he gets along with other dogs. Besides doing conformation, Cooper has done some obedience, rally, and tracking. Once you start showing dogs, it's easy to become hooked. Check out the AKC events page to learn more. | |||||||||||||
| In June, 2004, I joined the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America. I also joined the local all breed club, Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club, and recently I joined the Three Trails Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club. | |||||||||||||
| I have been very active in the Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club. I have worked at every show, trial and clinic since joining. I served two years as the recording secretary, and I'm currently the club president. I am also the hospitality chairman and website administrator. | |||||||||||||
| The majority of my free time is spent doing dog related stuff, so my husband is right, it is an "obsession." | |||||||||||||
| Best regards, Laura | |||||||||||||

| SO YOU THINK YOU WANT A CARDIGAN | |||||||||||||
| Have you researched the breed? Do you know they are herding dogs and are very active? Did you know they shed? (A LOT) | |||||||||||||
| If you are looking to purchase a Cardigan Welsh Corgi (or any puppy, for that matter), please find a reputable breeder who does testing on their breeding dogs. Don't buy from a backyard breeder (someone who is just into breeding for the fun of it or to make money and not into breeding for the betterment of the breed), and please don't buy from a pet shop. Puppies in pet shops most likey come from puppy mills. They may be just as cute, but you don't know the health of their parents or the horrible conditions they may be living in. Just because they are AKC registered does not mean they are well taken care of. Buy a puppy from a breeder where you can see where it was raised and at least one of the parents. | |||||||||||||
| Do some research so you spend your money wisely. You want a healthy puppy with a great temperament, one that's been socialized to people, places, and other dogs. The Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America is a great place to start your search. Go to dog shows in your area and meet some Cardigan breeders and exhibitors, and always ASK questions. You'll be glad you did. | |||||||||||||
| But if a puppy isn't right for your situation, consider adopting an adult. There are many wonderful adults out there looking for their "forever home." Check out the Cardigan Rescue website. Occasionally, I know of some breeders that are looking to place retired show dogs and can refer you to one of them.
