"I say, Goodbye, July / wish you hadn't made me cry / but now you've past, again / see you in a year, of sin"

We have just recently said goodbye to the month of July and welcomed August back from it's eleven month leave of absence. August brings no major U.S. holidays, but it does contain the ominous shadow of school for those still going. This is a month of temporarily saying goodbye to people as they venture off to school, whether it be college or whatever. I usually had one person very close to me that took off for school during this month. Now we are not that close but I now have three people I have gotten close to that are taking off for school. It suck, that is life though.

I had to replace my door speakers in my Bronco yesterday. I was on my way home from work on Wednesday and the front speakers just quit all of a sudden. I was afraid it might have been the head unit but after Pat and I checked things out we found that it was just the speakers had went bad. So Ozzy and I went to Springfield and picked up new ones. Ozzy drove on the way back and I installed the passenger side speaker while we were cruising down the interstate. Hey I can handle alot, but a subpar stereo system is not one of those things.

Wednesday night Pat and I started messing around with the Biped, Moped, whatever you want to call it. Pat took the baffles out of the exhaust and then we made templates for the fender skirting. We then discussed all sort of crazy ideas that we wanted to do with it (of course half of these were just plain crazy and dismissed in short order). We also decided that we were not going to worry about having it ready for this year's cruise night but for next year's so we have plenty of time to get it tip top shape before we show it. We did set a budget for the project though, a whopping $200 is what we are trying to keep it at. I am also planning on doing some more customizing on my motorcycle this winter so I am going to have plenty of stuff to do.I think it will be a lot of fun and I know we will learn a lot in the process. Especially me.

I heard the Calhoun County Accident last night at Spirits bar. They were a very enjoyable local band. They played bluegrass, blues, classic rock, and country. They also were very funny at times. They were more of an ambience band in a way. They didn't overpower you so you could conversate with those around you, but they were njoyable enough to where you wanted to listen to them as well. I would reccomend anyone to check them out.

I am going to cut this commentary short but not before I reccomend a few new albums. First of all I want to reccomend the new Dave Matthews Band album entitled "Busted Stuff". I don't need to tell you that the album is good because all of Dave Matthews Band albums are great. Another is the new Counting Crows new album "Hard Candy". This is perhaps the best al around album they have put out, perhaps not as commercial, but probably the best. It contains some very heartfelt lyrics and beautiful music. Last but not least is a new Aussie band called The Vines. Their "Highly Evolved" debut album has been best described to me as Smashing Pumpkins meet the Beatles (Props to Jeff on that one). It has high powered f*&% the world anthems and mellow tales of love. It will kick your ass and then put ice on the bruises.

Now I will leave you for today and hope you all start the month of August off right and have a hell of a good time. I will be making the most out of the beginning of August because when my friends head off to school some of my weekend entertainment will be gone. Take care, and have a good time.

Rock On,

Various Artist Song of the Moment

Corduroy

Pearl Jam

The waiting drove me mad...you're finally here and I'm a mess
I take your riches back...can't let you roam inside my head
I don't want to take what you can give...
I would rather starve than eat your bread...
I would rather run but I can't walk...
Guess I'll lie alone just like before...

I'll take the firmist path...oh, and I must refuse your test
A-push me and I will resist...this behavior's not unique
I don't want to hear from those who know...
They can buy, but can't put on my clothes...
I don't want to limp for them to walk...
Never would have known of me before...
I don't want to be held in your debt...
I'll pay it off in blood, let I be wed...
I'm already cut up and half dead...
I'll end up alone like I began...

Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed
Take my hand, not my picture, spilled my tincture

I don't want to take what you can give...
I would rather starve than eat your breast...
All the things that others want for me...
Can't buy what I want because it's free...
Can't buy what I want because it's free...
Can't be what you want because I'm...

I ain't s'posed to be this far
Oh, to live and die, let it be done
I figure I'll be damned, all alone like I began...

It's your move now...
I thought you were a friend, but I guess I, I guess I hate you...

Smashing Pumpkins Song of the Moment:

This Time

This time I need to know
I really must be told
If it's over
It's up to you you know
The things you want to hold
Are in pieces

Crashing down
Crashing down again
Crashing down
Crashing down my freinds

I've got to move it on
I've got to sing my song
While I still can
Dispatch the last alarms
Hand out the last few charms
There's no surprises

Only love
Only love can win
Crashing down
Crashing down again

Only love
Yeah only love will win
Crashing down
Crashing down again

This time I need to know
I really must be told
That it's over
I've lived my life alone
My every step foretold
To never linger
And yet it haunts me so
What are we letting go
Our spell is broken

Crashing down
Crashing down my friends
Crashing down
Crashing down again

Only love
Yeah only love will
Be enough
Yeah only love will win

For every chemical
You trade a piece of your soul
With no return
And who you think you know
Doesn't know you at all
Their drain is needless
Someday we'll wave hello
And wish we'd never waved goodbye
To this romance
We'll drink up every line
And shoot up every word
Till there's no more

Crashing down
Crashing down my friends
Only love
Only love can win

So cry these tears we'll cry as all
We've held so long to fall apart
As the curtain falls we bid you all goodnight
