When he was 12 years old, he began touring with the Chinese National Martial Arts Exhibition Team, making him the youngest ever to so so. He traveled all over the world performing with the team. This was a rare opportunity because at that time Chinese people were not allowed to leave China.
Jet continued with the National team until he was in his late teens. Also during this time he managed to win multiple wushu national championships. This was remarkable because there were many martial art schools and students who competed for the championship. Let's remember China's large population.
As a direct result of his championships, he was approached by a movie producer and asked to make a movie. At first he just wanted to try something new but found that he enjoyed it and decided to make it his life's work.
