Cleopatra & the Marked Rose

Had Cleopatra had a
rose,
Lying on her breast.
Instead she had the
serpent,
They later laid to rest.

With teary eyes he stood alone,
The barge out on the sound.
A crumpled flower in his hand,
And the
rose dropped to the ground.

Would the world we know today,
Been a little different?
An empire still exist today,
The
rose a hand it lent?

No jewels, gold, or treasure chest,
But a
rose he held instead.
As he knelt down at her feet,
And slowly bowed his head.

Mark Antony took her by the hand,
To the pyramids they would travel.
Climb atop the tallest one,
The world he would unravel.

Theyd share the bounty and the wealth,
And peasants would join in.
An empire to rule the world,
And rid it of its sin.

Lo the peace, tranquility,
The changes they could make.
All because the single
rose,
Took the place of a deadly
snake.
