Cool – (slang) first rate; excellent
(Webster’s New American Dictionary)
Cool – (slang) very good
In addition, being “cool” means that you are in trend with the group. For example, you do or wear things that are in trend. Sometimes, being cool just means being yourself, instead of pretending to be someone you’re not. One can be cool if he/she has self-confidence and isn’t affected by other people’s opinions. Being cool, people may admire you because of your physical appearance. If you act accordingly to how the society wants you to, then you can considered to be a cool person as well. For instance, an adult may call you say that you are cool for not smoking, drinking, or doing drugs.
On the other hand, if you are NOT cool, you’re usually not in trend with the group. People may consider you to be an outsider or an outcast because you’re different and not in trend with everyone else. However, if you try too hard to fit in, and you have a totally different character that is opposite of the real you, then people might regard you as “un-cool.” If your mind is filled with pessimism, then you might not be cool. Likewise, the community, especially adults, won’t regard you as a cool person if you are addicted to alcohol, smoking, or doing drugs.
