Tekken Advance
Publisher: Namco
Platform: GameBoy Advance

Tekken Advance is the GameBoy version of the popular fighting series, Tekken. It is loosely based around the PS2 Tag version, as it offers a tag mode, however you have three characters instead of two. Tekken made its debut on the PlayStation's launch titles and quickly became popular. Tekken 3, also on the PlayStation/PSone was long considered the "mother of all fighting games".
Graphically Tekken Advance is not bad. The characters are all crisp, the animations are smooth and the fighting seems as real as the PlayStation versions ever got. The backgrounds are nothing to talk about, but they do they job and do not interfere with the gameplay.
The sound in Tekken Advance is excellent for a GBA game. The music has a 'rock' style to it and the fighting noises have not been tuned down for this version. This is definitely one of the best GBA games in the sound department.
The gameplay in Tekken Advance is fairly good. However, as there are limited buttons on the GBA, the combos and moves are easier to pull off. There are also many different modes of play; survival, tag, arcade. These are all good and differ slightly from each other.
Tekken Advance should be a game you keep with you for a while. Whilst the single player may not be so hard, bashing a friend is seriously fun. Tekken 3 used to be one of my favourite party games, and with the tag mode I'm sure this won't be any different. Another added bonus is that it's on the GBA which can be taken anywhere.
All in all this is a really good example of what the GBA can do, whilst still sustaining the standard of the Tekken series. Go and get it now!
