| So you wanna make a cartoon doll website? I decided to make this page containing a few tips on making a site. You don't have to follow this, but I hope it's of help to you. |
| Tips to a Good Website: Have everything neat and organized. People like to know where they're at, and how to get somewhere else. In other words: have good navigation! It's also good to have backgrounds that match, or are at least close in color. This way, it looks like you spent some time making it look 'professional'. Decorate! Add lots of color, pictures, etc. to your website. This will make it look a lot better. Have lots of stuff that the visitors can participate in, such as: contests, winning your award, a guestbook, e-mail, donating dolls or other stuff, free-for-all links(see my links page), and even more! You also want to get lots of "hits". This is when lots of people come to your site. My site doesn't have too many visitors, but I've been working on it! Ways to get more traffic, include: 1. Becoming sister sites with other websites. 2. Asking people to link you on their site. (nicely! hehe) 3. Submitting your site to search engines. (check out my links page; I have a link to a place where you can do this!) 4. When you sign someone's guestbook, include your site name and URL. 5. Usually, the website where you're making yours at, (like Geocities, Angelfire, etc.) will have a members directory where you can submit your site! 6. Create an ad for your site, like at Ad Designer. (link is at top of page) 7. Treat visitors with respect, and they might tell others about your site! Don't copy or steal stuff from someone else's site! If they give you permission, then it's fine! But you shouldn't steal people's ideas, or their actual material! You get treated with more respect when you have your own stuff! Don't get frustrated; HAVE FUN! |
