Winfried was born on April 26, 1945 in Zoppot, Danzig and grew up in East-Berlin. After the Abidur and proffe-sional training as machine-builder he studied at the German Univercity for Film and Television in Potsdam - Babelsberg (1965 - 1969) and finished with diploma for the organisatsion of the clown figures in Shakespeare comedies.
   His first theatre commitment was in Potsdam, East-Berlin, where he stayed until 1978. Then followed a 4-year contract with DEFA filmstudio ("The Legend of Paul and Paula", "Till Eulenspiegel", etc).
   Because of deprivation of GDR (German Democratic Republic) citizenship in 1982 he and his family had to move to West Berlin. In the Schillertheater he got engaged.
   Starting from mid-60s he has starred more than 20 Defa cinema and television films which won admiration of larger public. "The Legend of Paul and Paula" and "Till Eulenspiegel" had public of a million. From 1982 Winfried had played in more than 30 movies. He was constant guest at the Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 1986 - 1996. From 1997 in the theatre, in Cure Prince Dam, in the comedies in Winterhuber Faehrhaus in Hamburg and Dresden and in the theatre of the City Hall of Meals. In 2001 he was part of the theater tour around Germany with the comedy "My friend Harvey".
