February 8, 2005  Tarlac City

TARLAC CITY- The DBP through Tarlac Branch granted a P40 million loan to the Tarlac State University (TSU) for the construction of a three-storey school building to house the College of Arts and Social Sciences and temporarily house the College of Nursing. The project to be financed is a U-shaped building, with a total floor area of 3,965 sq. meter comprising of 16 classrooms, two laboratory rooms, a speech laboratory, two Dean’s offices, two faculty rooms, two student offices, a studio, clinic, computer room, amphitheater, library, restrooms, and audiovisual room. It will be constructed in TSU Lucinda Campus at Barangay Sampu, Tarlac City.

The University is the first among the state university and colleges (SUCs) in Central Luzon to avail of financial assistance from the Bank. The project will address the school requirement for its new Nursing curriculum offered starting the school year 2004-2005, and accommodate the existing 1,003 enrollees in the College of the Arts and College of Social Sciences. It will help to decongest the population in the main campus at Romulo Boulevard, Tarlac City in time for the completion of the TSU Hospital and College of Medicine in TSU San Isidro. The university has been a major depositor since 1990. Payroll of their 452 employees is also being serviced by DBP.

The University is a noted institution providing higher education and learning at affordable fees to at least 9,000 students. It is the premier school among existing tertiary institutions in the area, especially in the number of enrollees it accommodates.
