We met Gisela (girl
I knew from IEEE, also my bro's high school classmate) at the airport.
Didn't recognize her or remember where I knew her from at the time
=( shame shame. Pretty empty for such large airport. We
practically had the entire shuttle bus to ourselves.
Japanese signs are
really cool, some of them have lights that indicates the traffic flow of
each section of the road. It took some time to get used to driving
on the left side and all. I think we hit peak hour or maybe it's
always like that, but the ride took pretty long.
Finding dinner took us a
long time. We took the subway to Shinjuku. We tried asking
directions to one of the restaurants in the travel book, but they didn't
know how to get there either. (Now I understand Japanese don't
really have streets, they simply divide each area into smaller and smaller
sections, so you can't really find an address unless you have a map)
A woman from Taiwan helped us out with the communication. But since
we couldn't find the restaurant, we just wondered the streets. There
were many sex shows, pachinko and such, it was very lively. Lively?
That's an interesting way to describe it.....
After 2
hrs, we finally went into a noodles place. It wasn't really that
good, but we were really hungry. The noodles were salty w/ lots of
soy sauce I think, just like the comic book said (Tokyo style has a
stronger taste) We took the cab home, but the driver didn't know
where our hotel is, so we had to walk around and ask for directions.
