The achievement of interactivity in video games has forced various companies to think outside the cube.

Nintendo Wii: Success

Guitar Hero:
Success

3DV Systems, a technology firm based in Israel has developed the ZCam and the Z-mini, computer peripherals so sensitive to motion, that a mere finger flick can affect on-screen controls.

"The Wii has shown us the way, but this can take things so much further," remarks Chief Executive Klier of 3DV.

The ZCam and Z-mini can detect depth as it tracks motion in three dimensions. As a result, Klier manipulates several screens using hand gestures and launches a game where he controls an airplane using the tilt of his palm. He then gives a 'thumbs up' to fire machine guns and to drop bombs. Klier then switches to a boxing game, bobbing and weaving in response to attacks while throwing a few of his own. The ZCam is absolutely brilliant. There is no controller at hand. The ZCam tracks everything.

The ZCam has been under development for over two years and will be released in 2008.
