Take Aim With Novint Falcon
photo

The Novint Falcon Pistol Grip is a work of art.

It looks like some sort of gyroscopic interface on the Nebuchadnezzar's gunning helm. Similar in function too. Put it to good use with a good FPS game and you can experience some pretty awesome jolts. It's nothing reminiscent of the 'watered-down' gun response you get from a PlayStation controller. Powerful motors in the Novint Falcon shells out an impressive range of sensations. The peripheral is excellent for a wide variety of sport genres: Golf, basketball, baseball, circuit racing...so on and so forth. But chances are that all you really want to do is light shit up.

Counterstrike becomes a new game. Halo definitely.

Steady jerks from a handgun. Ground-shattering booms from a shotgun. After you've spilled unbelievable volumes of computer blood in your games, you'll really wonder how you've made it this far without this level of interactivity. Fragging will never be the same. Of course there's also an extra aspect to the Novint Falcon. Carrying objects, pushing crates, reloading; everything will different because weight on the pistol grip changes. If you're playing a rather serious game, and silly little things like reputation are at stake, you might wanna go back to the gaming mouse. Short controlled bursts on a submachine gun shake you up and .50 Calibre rifles destroy your wrist. And for that matter, you may just finally take grenades seriously -- because I never really did. Simple things like pulling doors will quickly translate into physical exhaustion. That extra quarter second of arm-recovery from doing ANYTHING just might cost you your gamer cred. Plus it's kind of weird for other online gamers to see your avatar constantly twitching.

The Novint Falcon Pistol Grip does add an interesting aspect to your gaming experience. If you're sitting at home and just enjoying a good noob hunt, by all means you'll have a good time.
