Captain Kirk's Command Chair Brings Out The Trekkie In All Of Us
photo

Set the Captain's chair in the living room and prepare to revel in all things Star Trek. The replica is modeled after the Enterprise's legendary command recliner and has provided Captain Kirk postural relief during the tensest of times. Remember when Kirk blew up Khan? Remember when he beamed-up those two massive whales? How about that time he faced off with that invisible Klingon warship? The chair has seen a lot of action, and has undoubtedly suffered a lot of smears. As an added bonus, bark out some of Kirk's signature remarks and watch as your entire family rolls their eyes. Go even further and get one of those phaser TV remotes to go with the Captain's chair. When the neighbours see your Star Trek collectibles, they'll know that your mind has fallen into the deepest levels of geekdom.

To be perfectly fair, the modern-day replica is crafted quite similarly to the original prop. Accompanying lights and sounds f/x for every button really shapes up a genuine Star Trek feel. There's even a button for playing sound bites from the original series. While some people may see this as annoying, I find that these pre-recorded tracks remind me of the subtle ingenuity in Shatner's overacting.

Pricing and date of delivery is still uncertain, but the chairs should hit stores next year at around $1000.
