8/8/08 - Beijing Olympics Poised To Be Best, Definitely Expensive
Yes! Posted in time. The 2008 Summer Olympics started today. Yes, today. Apparently, this event is the third time that the games will be held in two Olympic sanctioned territories. Where all the cooler events will be held in Beijing, the less awesome events (equestrian racing) will occur in Hong Kong.
This is great for China actually. Their cash offer was so attractive that they actually outbid equally worthy cities. The ones most worthy of mention are Toronto, Paris, Osaka and Istanbul. Istanbul was Constantinople!
It's damn good timing too. China made it in time for 8/8/08. Culturally speaking, such a date is sure to be filled with piles of gold, blinding fortune, and old fashioned good times. The Chinese really are fussy. No...the word is particular. Sneaky bidding and an army of political lobbyists were employed just so they can make it for August 8, 2008. As we can all see, the presence of 8s are pretty damn important. Simply stated, 8 equates to fortune/luck/good stuff, and there's tons of it today.
