The PSP is a media station capable of movies, music, videogames as well as Internet access. The Nintendo DS is a portable gaming system with a touch-sensitive interface. In relation to sales however, the PSP has fallen 15 million units short to the DS. By the end of September, Sony will launch a slimmer and more affordable PSP, approximately 5% less than the current model in an attempt to more effectively compete with the DS.

Like the Playstation 3, the PSP’s minor price reduction will only slightly increase sales. With a disadvantage of 15 million, it’d take a lot before Sony trumps Nintendo in the portable gaming department.
