The folks down at Id Software plan on unleashing yet another Doom. A fourth installment will soon be added. The company has announced their plans on Doom 4 and are searching for some top notch programmers.



"It's critical for Id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles," said CEO Todd Hollenshead at a press release.



Personally, I'm hyped. I remember playing a verly early version of Doom on a computer that operated on DOS. I no longer have access to that computer now of course. On a related note, I opened the game one day and had somehow gained access to all the secret weapons as well as invincibility (the guy's eyes were glowing yellow). I soon realized that this was due in part to a cunning little virus that had overrun the 64MB hard drive. Oops.



The Doom series is famous for popularizing the first person genre hands down.

According to Id, the game will be featured on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
