Grand Theft Auto IV - "Are You In Or Are You Out?"
photo

GTA IV is coming out on Saturday.

It goes without saying tha the new GTA will likely be the highest grossing videogame of 2008... at least that's what Take Two said.
And I can't speak for you, but I'm damn excited; especially having watched this trailer many, many times. From the looks of it, this trailer reveals much of the same substance of previous GTA installments. Run-and-gun action with Kalashnikovs as well as violent get-rich-quick schemes. There's also the introduction to the now prominent, "Move Up Ladies" phrase.

Everyone wants a piece of the action, specifically explosion-crazed 11 year olds.
A quick survey conducted by What They Play reveals the sneaky ways that underage kids plan on using in order to circumvent conventional videogame policies. In theory, the harrowing M rating should be enough to keep youngsters from getting their hands on this latest title. But kids these days... Some people revealed that their parents were going to buy the game first hand because they recognize their childrens' maturity and realize that GTA is just a game. And that's encouraging. Other kids however, plan on employing decidedly less noble tactics. Some say that they plan on exploiting their divorced parents because "it's pretty easy to convince them to get whatever they want." And that's just not cool.
But I digress...

My friends and I agree: This trailer gets us so amped for GTA that we are forced to play through earlier versions in order to satisfy such powerful cravings. But we have noticed one thing. For one, the hand-to-hand combat component previewed, is significantly less crappy then earlier installments. Remember San Andreas? Remember CJ's punches? Without a doubt, it looked like he was swatting flies with a very big hand. Aside from that, I suppose not much has changed. Some criminal-ish looking guy, same kill or die mentality and same get rich by any means necessary plot. Only this time, there's European dude with a really thick accent.
But I have to say, this trailer is really good.
I should attribute some of its addictiveness to the background Russian rap.
