Ecotek CB-26P
-On the 1.4 8v engine the pipe you are supposed to put the "wonder widget" into is the one that runs from the inlet manifold to the brake servo, that's the one which runs over top of the big black box towards the rear of the engine bay, you should read the instructions which come with the CB-26P and only when you are sure you have the correct pipe should you fit the item, if you are unsure consult an experienced mechanic.
Removing Rear Speakers
-After you have removed the panel fixed with torx bolts and those annoying plastic stud thingies which fly out and do their best to aim for your eyes on the inside of the boot being careful of the speaker wires you can think about removing them, This is done by squeezing the clip on the wires to the speaker to release the plug then grab hold of the speaker and turn it a little (you can see which way by looking at the 4 lugs) the speaker should just drop out now, when I connected up the 6x9's I connected the wires which came with the 6x9's into the standard loom using 'scotch-lock' connectors then put the 6x9 wires through the blanking panel using a grommet just beside the bracket holding the back seats in.
Installing A Head Unit
-To remove the OE head unit you will have to remove the four grub screws using an allen key in the holes for the head unit keys, you can then push the head unit keys into the holes (if you don't have head unit keys you can use two pieces of CAREFULLY bent wire coat hanger) the OE head unit should now pop out.
-the next thing is to remove the standard cage, this is not difficult but needs a lot of patience, you will need to bend all the lugs holding it in out the way and CAREFULLY remove the plugs from the back of the cage.
-Next is to put in the new cage, make sure you haven't lost any cables down the back, it isn't vital but it is a lot easier if you haven't, if you have pull the small blanking panel off from inside the little storage hole thingie in front of the gear stick and undo this screw, then pull the gearstick gaiter off the panel, a sharp tug should do this. you can now move the big black panel around a bit to gain access to the two screws holding the bottom of the ash tray in, you can undo these and then open the ash tray and remove the two in the top here, you can now remove the ash tray and be greeted by the pleasant site that is the wires you thought were lost forever in the abyss that is a Vauxhall dashboard! Put in the new cage and bend as many of the lugs as you can to hold it in place, it will still feel a little sloppy but this will firm up when everything else is put in.
-Connect the loom which comes with your head unit into the back of the head unit and the adapter loom you (should) have bought from your ICE dealer or a Halfords or similar shop, this is better than cutting wires trust me... Connect the aerial up and carefully push the head unit into the new cage put the surround on (if your head unit has one) and put the fascia on and listen to your favourite music while you test everything works and put the ash tray and other bits back in.
-One useful thing worth remembering is that if you have the MFD (multi-function display) the centre panel will go blank when the head unit is on, I was told that if you cut a certain wire or something you can always have the date there, but a) I can't remember which wire it was and b) I can't be bothered to take my head unit out again!
Installing Soundproofing
-This is pretty easy really and it is probably one of the best ICE mods I have done, it doesn't make your ICE silent from outside but inproves the quality loads inside.
-first take off the trim on the panel you wish to soundproof, clean the panel and stick the soundproofing on simple as that! a hair dryer helps if you do this on a cold day.
