SPIDERMAN 2
6/17/02

There's a whole lot of news going around on Spiderman 2 already, and that makes it incredibly hard for me to discern which to post, because I'm not a real big Spidey fan myself. Not sayin' I don't like the guy, just that I'm not real into it... yet. I'll just post the most recent (relevant) news and leave it at that for now.

The director of Spiderman, Sam Raimi, says he's probably not putting Venom in the Spiderman movies. (I'm assuming there will be a trilogy; there always is.) According to Cinescape, Raimi says, "I think I've got to read more of the comics because I can never quite figure out why he hates Peter so much. ... It's hard to really believe in it. ... I think everyone has a better understanding of Venom than I do. All I'll say is Venom wouldn't be the first villan I'd like to see because I don't know him that well." I can agree with Sam. I don't know him that well, either. :)

Man, nothing but bad news today. Another Sam, Sam Neill that is, was rumored to be cast as the role of Dr. Octopus. Unfortunately, this rumor is an error. By Comic2Film's book, there hasn't even been any casting yet besides "the holdovers from the original." From another source, Moviehole, "[Sam Neill was asked] about the rumor he will play Doc Ock in 'Spiderman 2' - to which Neill laughed, and said he has never heard of the rumor, let alone been approached." Well, don't that suck. He was great in Jurassic Park.
