| Methuselah Variant | |||||||||
| Many sites propose variants that their authors have enjoyed, so I thought I'd share one we came up with. Like most variants, the idea is that you get to put your methuselah in play. First, you need a methuselah. You can either make a custom one or just write the info down and choose a card that will represent that methuselah. Our meths had five superior disciplines, a pimpity special, +3 bleed, and one discipline at INSANE (a step above superior). Insane allowed the meth to use both the basic and superior function of a card simultaneously, whenever applicable. (Undead Strength for +3, Theft o Vitae for 3, Conditioning for +5 bleed, etc. |

| Your meth is a 30 capacity vampire of a given clan, and starts the game face down in addition to your four uncontrolled vampires. Your methuselah may enter the controlled region by spending four transfers and two blood during the influence phase. No meth can 'wake up' until someone gains control of the edge. Note that a meth may have more than 30 blood, as your pool has no upper cap. Still, the vamp representing your meth will be considered 30 capacity for game purposes. Master cards may not be played on methuselahs. You can't Minion Tap yourself, nor can you gain skills, have your Haven Uncovered, etc. The blood on your methuselah still represents your pool, and is depleted when you are bled. However, now you can gain a pool by having your awakened meth hunt, or utilize your hunting ground. Likewise, you effectively lose a pool if your meth decides to Blur (for 3 additionals with INSANE Celerity!) Meth's do not have votes or titles (initially), and can belong to any or no sect (determined when the meth is created). If your meth goes to torpor, so be it. You go back to playing the old fashioned way until you can A) rescue with another minion B) rescue yourself or C) spend four transfers and two pool during your influence phase. Option C is not an action, and therefore unblockable. This is required, as the game is very unbalanced if everyone else has a meth up and you don't. Note also that meth's cannot be diablerized or burned. However, if your meth runs out of blood, you are instantly ousted. Be careful in combat. |
