my surgery at which point I will update on my
sucess!

this is me Today 4-16-01

More Info as it becomes
available!
4-17-01 ~ My wife Dianne called
an talked to Dr. Husted's nurse and made my
first appointment. We will be going down to
Nashville a week from tomorrow (the 25th) for his
Seminar that morning then my appointment late
that afternoon. I am feeling excited!
4-25-01 ~ We didn't make it to
my appointment today as I am having an extreme
ammount of pain in my legs and can hardly walk.
Will have to reschedule.
4-27-01 ~ I got an email from Dr Hustead's office about rescheduling.my new appointment is May 17th. A ways off but not to far!
5-17-01 ~ Dianne and I made the 2 hour drive down to Nashville. Had to be there in time for the 9 am seminar so we left at about 6:15 am (Dianne hates to be late). I had a rough go of it getting in to the room it was held in. We both really enjoied both Dr. Husted and his assistant Jamie. They were both very informative but also seemed to have a great sense of humor. After the seminar we went to have lunch and found a great mexican place that had seating without arms on the chairs! We drove around for a bit and then headed over to the Doctors office. We hit a major road block trying to get up to the third floor, as I can't walk very far with out sitting down. Dianne had to go over to the hospital to the admissions office to get a wheelchair big enough for me. It will be so great when I dont need to worry about things like this! When we got into see Dr. Husted, we are immeadetly at ease with him. He really seems to love helping people with this surgery. We talked about my sleep apnea, and that he wants me to see Dr. Peacock, a pulmonary doctor that has an office in Nashville. Then he said I was the ideal cadidate for this surgery. And he had another of his assistants schedule my surgery...For JULY 31, 2001. I AM SO EXCITED! Below is a picture Dianne took of me right before the seminar started:
6-19-01 ~ We just found out We had surgery date wrong!!!!!! My surgery is sheduled for July 30th at 8am...so a day earlier!
6-25-01 ~ We just got back from my appointment with Dr. Peacock (the pulmonologist). We went over before my appointment to talk to Dr. Husted's nurse Jamie (She is the woman!) because we are having some problems with the care I am receiving from my Primary care doctor. Then we thought in we were in the right place for my appointment but had accidentally ended up in the wrong place. After we finally got to the right place and got into see Dr Peacock I was imeadeatly put at ease...he said I probably will be off the respirator the night of surgery at the lastest unless there are complications! I am so excited..I really was dreading having it for 2 days like Husted said I might have to have it.
2-17-02 ~ I thought I had put it on this page but after several emails asking Larry how he was doing I realized I hadnt update this page. Larry passed away on august 9th...just 10 days after surgery...still in the hospital. My advise to any pre ops is WALK WALK WALK and don't let anyone tell you you can't walk...no the nurses not the Physical therapists...no one...you have to walk. Larry passed due to a Pulmonary embolis. Make sure they wrap your legs or do some sort of compression wraps or devices.
