Photo's from Tour of Duty
Sept 67 to May 68
4th Inf. Div. 2/1 Cav

Welcome. The photo album that I have compiled is a collection of photos that I have taken during my Tour of Duty in Vietnam from September 1967 until my discharge in May 1968. All of the photos were taken while assigned to the
2/1 Cav. 4th ID. (2nd Squadron 1st Armorerd Calvary, 4th Infantry Division). Code named Blackhawks.  All of the photos were taken in the 4th Infantry Divisions AO (Area of Operations). This was commonly known as Corps II in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. The 4th Infantry Divisions Base Camp was known as Camp Enari in Pleiku. Outward Firebases (FB) were Blackhawk and Schueller, both on Highway or QL 19, and the infamos Kontum.
Primary duties of the Blackhawks was to escort convoys along QL19 from An Khe east through the treacherous Mang Yang Pass to Pleiku, and north along QL 14 to Kontum and Dak To. Perched on Outposts (OP's) during the day, ready to repel convoy ambushes and guarding the bridge sites at night. Other duties included Search and Destroy missions, securing artillery field positions, and supplying fire support where needed.
I have divided my assortment of photos by geographical location and Firebase names, as well as Search and Destroy and Road and Bridge duties, along QL 19.
Finally I dedicate this photo assemblage to my fellow Trooper Comrades who gave the ultimate sacrifice, most of whom were only 19 or 20 years of age, and to the rest of us that were either physically wounded or mentally wounded. It is my greatest expectation to reunite Troopers in the photos with themselves so that they can share the photos with their children and grandchildren. If any of the soldiers that I served with can identify the troops in the photos, please contact me so that I can add their names to the photos.
Thank you for visiting my album. Any questions comments or opinions can be directed to me via e mail at
