Northern Ireland 1-1 Serbia and Montenegro

     Well what can i say what a superb performance from a revitalised northern irish side. We started off extremely slow and conceded a goal on the 8th minute due to sloppy defending as the ball was slotted through maik taylors legs. the rest of the 1st half was mainly dominated by the Serbs but then probably more against the run of play the a wonderful ball was played across the box by Healy and Jimmy Quinn slotted the ball home magnificently to level the scores. In the second half northern Ireland came out a totally different side with substitutions made. theses included the magnificent Steve Jones who contributed greatly to the proceedings. though the second half was not a half for the faint hearted as the dirty yugoslavs attempted to butcher our boys and resulted to 6 cards being brandished by the referee in the 2 nd half. Although northern Ireland dominated the 2nd half they failed to score and were denied a penalty.

     Northern Ireland played the best I have seen them play for a long time and they can only improve, Sanchez put out a well balanced team of youth and experience which included two irish league strikers of andy smyth and gary Hamilton who played exceptionally considering the league they play in. The only way is up!!
