For years people who live in rural areas have been worried with lighting strikes, power lines arching, and careless persons who might throw a cigarette out of their car and cause a raging wild fire that burns thousands of acres and destroys homes and lives. These fears have come to be real and have been seen on television in recent history in other parts of the country, the state, and maybe even your area. These fears can be reduced significantly by using the fire people fear or may not understand in a controlled way to create natural barriers and reduce the threat and or size of an out of control crisis.
Fire is an essential tool in maintaining grasslands all over the region. Using fire to control underbrush, weeds and trees is very effective. When dealing with fire it is important to understand fuel load. Fuel comes in many forms. Some types of fuel might be old dead grass or thatch, noxious weeds, or even cedar trees and brush. Fire reduces fuel loads on fields which adjoin other properties where homes, shops, livestock, power lines, or telephone lines run. In a controlled setting these can be protected with proper practice of back firing.
The members of Controlled Burning Consultants has many years of training and live fire experience both in the controlled and uncontrolled setting. Many members are firefighters in their everyday job. Some have been performing controlled burns on their farms for years with generations before them passing down knowledge of controlling and respecting fire on the grasslands. We have seen fire burn homes, out buildings, cars and many other expensive and sometimes irreplaceable items.
Our goal is to help reduce the risk of having an uncontrollable fire arise by helping you burn your property under control with resources you might not have access to. Personnel are one of the biggest and hardest resources to have. We provide enough personnel and equipment to execute any planned burn. We started out with a couple of farmers with fire flaps and garden rakes and have grown to include a fleet of ATVs with water tanks, a Polaris Ranger with water tank, multiple hand tools for areas inaccessible by the afore mentioned equipment and access to a Pickup with a water tank if needed.
