Carlos Boltes (Viola)
Carlos Boltes, a native of Santiago, Chile, began his initial studies in music by learning the charango at an early age with his brother Giovanni Vascani. As a member of the Chilean group "Barrocco Andino," he mastered the charango, the cuatro and the mandolin, while touring extensively throughout South America. Among his achievements, he has recorded for CBS Records and has been appointed first violist for the Youth Symphony of Chile. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in viola performance from the Pontificia Universidad de Chile, as well as a masters degree in performance under Atar Arad at Carnegie Mellon University. Currently a student at the Hartt School of Music, he is studying with Steve Larson (Adaskin String Trio) and has studied with Larry Dutton (Emerson String Quartet). Additionally, he is on the faculty at Nutmeg Conservatory in Torrington, CT and the Hartt School Community Division in West Hartford, CT.
