On Contrasts : The Series
There is a heap of documentation on the Philippine's current history (1940's
to 1990's). About half are written by foreign authors and published outside
the country. Most are private memoirs of ordinary citizens here and will most
probably remain obscure. There are also spots of footages and feature films
on this period. These documentations - literary and visual alike have also
various perspectives and usually come from a wide political belief and spectrum
- from the extreme left to the extreme right. But there is something missing
in all of this. And this is what we hope to achieve. The ongoing project seeks
only after what has ACTUALLY TRANSPIRED here void of any political color.
Getting all viewpoints as much as possible. It will also cull together loose
materials that has been there for tapping all along. This has never been done
before and it seeks to enlighten peoples from all walks of life and ages…seeking
to transgress boundaries of nationalities…from the Philippine shores out reaching
to all nations and people. To enlighten in the sense that there is so much
to tell about what has happened in this part of the globe…what the Filipino
is like…the psyche…the culture…the aspirations…amidst this period of history…This
film aims to have three focal areas - the highlights of World War II (Philippine
scenario), the highlights of the 20 year rule of the Marcoses and the post
EDSA scenarios…It may probably debunk ages of beliefs and misbeliefs ….BUT
IT WILL BE THE TRUTH.
