after the first names of her parents).  She professed her first vows on August 22, 1952 and her perpetual vows on August 22, 1958.

Sr. Claire received her bachelors degree from the former College of the Sacred Hearts in Fall River and her masters degree in education from Fordham University in NY in 1971.  She studied at several other colleges and universities during the 22 years she was teaching in parochial schools as Sr. Margaret Edmund.  A few of the parochial schools she taught at include St. Catherine School in Elizabeth City, NJ, St. Benedict School in Brooklyn, NY and St. Anthony School in Portsmouth, RI.
In 1973, she became Social Work Assistant for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rockville Center, NY.  From 1977 to 1983, Sr. Claire conducted adult spiritual programs at the Nanaquakett Spiritual Center in Tiverton, RI.  She was Pastoral Associate at St. James Cathedral in Orlando, FL from 1983 to 1986.  From 1987 to 1993, Sr. Claire served as the founding coordinator for Contemplative Outreach Central Florida developing and growing the Centering Prayer program in the region as an extended staff member of the San Pedro Center in Winter Park, FL.  She was also a professional member of the Association of Christian Therapists and the Association for Psychological Type.  Before leaving Orlando in 1993, she was also a GED prep teacher and an alternative education teacher in Orange County, FL public schools, a teacher/coordinator for the ACCEPT program and a teacher for hospitalized and home-bound children with AIDS.  She moved to Sacred Hearts Convent in 1993 for care during her battle with cancer.

Sr. Claire's love for children and nature found its expression in trips to the ocean whenever possible, usually accompanied by one of several young friends.  The gifts she shared and the healing she sought to bring about in the Body of Christ continue to bear fruit in the people whose lives she touched.  Her courage, patient, endurance and faithfulness in prayer taught them the need for fidelity to the unique call of God in each of their lives.  "Bein faith and love for God," Sr. Claire said often, in referring to Centering Prayer and to life.  She left that legacy as gift when she accepted to BE for all eternity in faith and love with God on December 26, 1994 at the young age of 63 years.
