The Legacy of Katrina Redable Royaltavon

      M. Allen

It was in 1970 that she took office. She came to power in a time when the state of Coldin
was on the brink of collapse. The chaos made the 1960's in the US look like a picnic. From
1960-1969 three presidents were killed in office. Perhaps the most brutal occurred to Mikchell
Tigershollin. On February 05 1962 He sat down with his family the celebrate the Casday holiday when he was gunned downed in front of his family. It was this event that would be a chilling foretelling of the entire decade. Things came to the highest point on July 16 1966 at the Hell's Canyon massacre. The Peoples Republican Army just one year prior had
ransacked the capitol in Gemoca. They stole records, firearms and the like. In the raid they killed 15 people and injuring 28 others, It was this action on their part that enraged the president at that time Tagooshin Hickelshiine. So much was he enraged that he unleashed the entire Coldin military upon the PRA. When the army tracked them down to Hell's canyon, About 200 miles north east of Gemoca. The PRA laid an ambush for the Coldin. When it was all over the Coldin army suffered heavily. 3,500 were dead in the Coldin army, Compared to just 55 for the PRA. It was in this environment that she would have to over come. She was born Katrina Redable Royaltavin in 1941 in what is today District 3, About 75 miles west of West Kado on the western side of the Estongray Mountains. In her three terms in office she earned a reputation for getting things done. On one occasion during a strike in the work camps that were building the Trans Coldin Highway She told the workers to get off their lay asses and get back to work. She did so on live radio. This shocked the state, perhaps needless to say. She died at the age of 63 in 2004. In the end her greatest legacy remains that she took the sate which was fallen apart and restored to greater then it had been previously. Her greatest accomplishments would be the treaty of Gray Back River in 1978 which ended 15 years of fighting and what is today referred to as The Hunter Wars. The bloodiest of which came from 1968 to 1975, during which time 3,100 people were killed. The war started in the very late 1950s as soldiers were coming back for the Second World War. They sought to seek it rich as commercial hunters in the wildlife rich north. Their actions grew increasing resentment form the locals who had been hunting these ground for generations. In 1959 it finally happened when a hunting party murdering another hunting party over territory. It all went down hill from their. By the early 1960's many residents felt the government was not doing all it could to prevent such conflict. This was complicated by the death of Molly Black on May 19 1961. She was a well liked president who was elected to 4 terms in office. When she died of a heart attack in office in 1961 a young kid out to make a name for himself took the reigns. Less then a year later he lay dead, slaughtered in his own home and in front of his family. His killer was never tried for this crime. It was a long road that would follow. The road the sate took caused many historians to label it as the "Mablodsedime." Which in the native language means "Time of much blood shed." Katrina Royaltavin's first accomplishment was the Trans Coldin Highway Project which began on June 1 1971 and was completed 4 years later. The project brought Coldin into the modern era. A distance which only 4 years prior took 6 months could now be driven in 10 days.. It ran from Boot Bay in the west to Pordon in the east. In 1976 The second highway was complete. It ran from Medelnow in the North to Tien Stiackk in the south. Coldin now had the means in which to transport goods. Also under her watch the C-Barn was established. It was the most successful radio communication networks until it disbanded in 1991, mainly due to the advent of wireless phones. In 1982 she had enough of politics and announced she would not seek a fourth term in office. In 12 years she managed to take Coldin from a state that was 50 years behind the rest of the world and a government that was rapidly collapsing under it's own weight, and turn it into one of the greatest state economies in modern times. It is this that will forever be her legacy.
