Ring Around The Roses By Cindy Tremblay Disclaimer: PARAMOUNT, it’s all I’m saying. Kathryn Janeway paused at the door to her ready room as she caught sight of what lay on her desk- a bouquet of roses. She approached tentatively, her curiosity picked. Once at her desk, she picked the flowers up, and brought them up to her nose, inhaling deeply of their sweet scent. “Something isn’t right.” She thought to herself, having this odd feeling that there was more to the posy than she knew. It took her a few minutes longer before she noticed something shimmering, holding the flowers together in the center. Upon closer inspection she realized it was a ring. Her breath caught in her throat, as trembling fingers removed the ring from around the roses. The ring now free, she held it in her palm. She noticed that if she placed it at a certain angle, she could see something engraved inside, it read : “Marry me Kathryn.” She smiled wide. “Ring around the roses, indeed.” She said aloud, sliding the ring unto her wedding finger, recalling the song that Chakotay had been humming in the turbolift that morning.
