Explaining the purpose of this website |
|
The average citizen in the developed world has a 25-50 times greater impact on the environment than an average citizen in a third-world country. The richest 20% of the world consumes 86% of all resources. Source: Population Connection We need to reverse this. As inhabitants of this Earth we need to take action. Cutting down on consumption of energy, water, paper products and other resources is the first step. Conserving our usage of resources helps the environment, saves money, and will eventually help third-world countries. If we cut down on our consumption, we can preserve our developed world natural resources. As this happens, our countries will rely less on using resources from other countries, and a chain reaction of environment preservation will occur. Imagine yourself following the steps and tips outlined in this website. You can cut your electricity bill, your water bill, your gas/oil bill, and more. The savings keep adding up. Saving money by saving the environment: it's two benefits in one. Helping third-world countries by not using up their resources is a great thing to do. This humanitarian effort will not only help you financial, it will be a bright spot in your conscience. The thought of saving lives, however indirectly, will weigh on your mind in a good way. Add on top of that the good feeling you will get as you walk through town, looking at trees and parks and how you're helping them. This is why you should conserve. You don't have to sign up for Conserve, this is a task for you. Take all of what's written here and think about it, think of what good you could do for this world. If you already have some ways of conserving, that's great. You can do more. You are not expected to do all of the things listed herein, but try to do what you can. For example, make your own list of five to ten points from this site and try to work them into your routine each week. After a month, you will really notice some changes in your lifestyle, for the better. After a year, imagine the results. This site is not asking you to make a significant drop in your quality of life. Just a slight drop, but for the good of the future of the world. The quality of life you live will still be much higher than any third-world country citizen can imagine. Will you conserve? |
