Name of Organization: WAYNE STATE CONSERVATIVE UNION
1) List the goals and purposes of the Organization
The WSCU has been formed with both social and political motivations. It wishes to provide a conservative community on campus where conservative individuals can find others of a similar cast of mind to discuss ideas and make friendships. The organization also wishes to form a better understanding of conservatism on campus by promoting conservative ideas and issues through a variety of activities.
2) Statement of how the group intends to carry out these goals and purposes at Wayne State
The broad goals listed above should be carried about in any appropriate and dignified manner which could include but is not limited to: hosting lectures, discussion forums, debates, publishing a newsletter, distributing literature, and creating displays.
3) Is your organization an affiliate with any national, regional, or local organization?
No.
4) Please Note: At such time as the purpose or regulations of any national, regional or local groups conflict with the policies of Wayne State University, the latter will prevail.
5) Requirements for membership
Full membership is open to all conservative students without regard of race, sex, religion, partisan affiliation, or class standing.
To be a voting member, the individual must be a registered member with the WSCU Secretary a week prior to when a vote is scheduled to take place.
6) Please Note: ALL FULL MEMBERS MUST BE REGISTERED STUDENTS OF WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY, 20% can be non registered affiliates who have no voting rights, but can participate in the group activities.
7) Officers and their duties (Do not list individual�s names)
The Officer board will consist of Upper and Lower Officers. Upper Officers will include (in order of rank): President, Senior Vice President, and Treasurer. The Lower Officers will include (in order of rank): Junior Vice President, Clerk, and Historian. Candidates for Upper Officer positions are restricted to forbid any first year student except by the nomination of a seated Upper Officer and seconded by any other officer. All other voting rights are equal.
a) The President. The President shall preside over all meetings of the WSCU and meetings of the Officer Board. He shall represent the WSCU in an official capacity and appoint all duties not designated by this Constitution. He shall be responsible for the general management and direction of the WSCU, the Officer Board, and any other subsidiaries of the WSCU. The President must confirm all committees and delegations proposed by other officers.
b) Senior Vice President. The Senior Vice President shall administer the club membership program. In the absence of the President, the Senior Vice President will preside as the President and shall execute all duties and responsibilities granted to that office.
c) Chairman of Finance. The Chairman of finance shall make financial reports to the Officer Board at least once monthly and shall receive and distribute all WSCU funds upon authorization from the officer Board. He shall coordinate all fundraising activities. In absence of the President and Senior Vice President, the Chairman of Finance shall preside as the President and shall execute all duties and responsibilities granted to that office.
d) Junior Vice President. The Junior Vice President shall administer the WSCU publicity program (which includes general group publicity and event specific publicity).
e) Clerk. The Clerk is the recording officer of the WSCU. It is the duty of the Clerk to record the minutes of meetings, to keep a register of all members, to notify all members about elections and calls for vote, and to administer the elections. It is also the duty of the Clerk to send out notices of all called meetings and to conduct the official correspondence of the WSCU, except when otherwise provided.
f) Historian. The Historian shall be responsible for maintaining an accurate record of all WSCU events and meetings. The Historian will maintain the archived files of the WSCU and shall be responsible for photography at all events. The Historian is required to tern over all documents at the termination of his office. At the e of the winter semester, the Historian shall surrender all items to the President for safekeeping over the summer recess.
All officers can delegate their duties to regular voting members and form committees (with the confirmation of the President). No delegation of duties to other officers is permitted unless they are in absence.

9) Eligibility requirements or qualifications necessary to run for office
All individuals seeking office must be voting members registered with the Clerk. Nomination rules apply. |
