My USA Trip (Dec 2002)
- This was a trip that was postponed due to the
September 11 attacks in 2001. Then in 2002, I told myself I had to go and
visit my best friend, who had gone there on a job attachment programme. |
I was invited to a company dinner and had a lovely time seeing how
Americans celebrate Christmas and special occasions. It was quite a formal
event but well, you know me, I just could not sit around with a brazier. I
took it off ;p |
In case you dunno, the food wasn't that great but the company I had
that night was once-in-a-lifetime, literally! |
| I went up Empire State Building in New York
city which was about an hour's ride from New Jersey. It was very very cold
up there *brrrrr*

|
Sometimes, pictures cannot do justice to what
I saw that night up on Empire State. The very white building is Chrysler
Building, the tallest building in USA until Empire State was built.

|
For those who watched the delightfully
romantic movie "You have got mail", this is the famous cafe
where Meg Ryan sat waiting for her email correspondent (who turned out to
be Tom Hanks). I tell you, this place is packed EVERY NIGHT and it took me
and CK about 45 minutes before we had seats!

|
I also went to Caesar's Palace, a casino, but
I swore I didn't gamble. I only played a machine and lost US$10 *grin*

|
| Then we took a eight-hour ride to Washington
D.C. CK was feeling sleepy most of the time (I could not drive there) and
we had to sing and sing till our voices were hoarse. Of course I had to
take a picture of this parking meter. Parking meter leh!!!??? Singapore
where got?

|
The very beautiful Capitol Building. The sky
was so blue it was surreal!

|
Washington has many monuments sprinkled all
over the state. CK was quite embarrassed by me when I took this picture. I
am sorry hor, I dun care!

|
Did I mention instead of stray cats, they
have stray squirrels? ARRGHHH! They were so cute and their tails were so
bushy and some of them not shy one. This one tried to take invisible food
from my hand ;p

|
That is the Washington Monument in the background. As CK and I were
driving around (ok ok, he was driving me around), we realized that all
roads lead to Washington Monument, because in our attempts to find other
famous monuments, we got lost so many times but never did we once lose
sight of Washington Monument! |
AND COULD I NOT HAVE TAKEN THIS PICTURE???!!!
NO WAY HOSAY, CK!

|

I stayed with these very hospitable friends while I was
staying in New Jersey, USA. In order of appearance from left, Gek Eng, CK
(my best friend) and Mashhad. I want to say THANK YOU to all of you for
being so patient and bringing me around and making me feel so at home. Of
course not to mention that night when I got lost taking public transport
by myself and all of you went to hunt high and low for me :( It was
really freezing cold but oh my god, what an experience!
I had taken close to 500 pictures, film and digital. If
you want to see most of them, you will have to ask me nicely. A treat to
McDonald's (Extra Spicy McCrispy) would do really well with me (^_^)
