2008 Mileage Rate Decreased
The Internal Revenue Service and Treasury Department has announced an decrease to the optional standard mileage rates for 2009. See Mileage Rates, below ~~

Allowable Per Diem Travel Expenses (See below)
2009 Standard mileage rate:  55 cents per mile,                                           

27 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes; and
14 cents per mile driven in service to a charitable organization.
Mileage Rates

~The standard mileage rate for 2008 was:
Effective 7/1/08 through 12/31/08
The standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups or panel trucks) was:

58.5 cents per mile for business miles driven;
27 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes; and
14 cents per mile driven in service to a charitable organization.

From Jan. 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008, the standard mileage rates was:
50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven;
19 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes; and
14 cents per mile driven in service to a charitable organization.

For 2007 it was:
48.5 cents per mile for business miles driven;
20 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes; and
14 cents per mile driven in service to a charitable organization.
