Think of it as your bowling night or golf game. A sport that takes practice to hone skills that we all hope we will never need but need to do well if called upon. This is bulls-eye shooting. There are five Teams left in the State of Connecticut and we are trying to preserve the League which the Teams shoot under.
Our shooting is one handed shooting at NRA targets 50 feet away. A shooter can only use .22 caliber rimfire pistols no longer than 6" barrel and open sights or optics (as explained below). These pistols reduce the amount of 'kick' or recoil to the shooter so you can better concentrate on sight alignment, trigger pull, and breathing. The basics needed to shoot well.
Each Team is made up of shooters who wish to improve their abilities. The Team score is taken from the top 5 shooters from each Team and added up. The shooting relay consists of 3 target relays as follows:
SLOW FIRE: 10 rounds in 7 minutes (possible 100 for total score)
TIMED FIRE: 5 rounds in 30 seconds in 2 relays (possible 100 for total score)
RAPID FIRE: 5 rounds in 15 seconds in 2 relays (possible 100 for total score)

THE BOARD APPROVED THE USE OF OPTICS ON A TRIAL BASIS FOR THE YEAR. THERE WOULD BE MINIMAL CHANGE TO THE CURRENT COURSE OF FIRE. THE SHOOTER WOULD HAVE A CHOICE TO SHOOT WITH OPTICS OR STAY WITH IRON SIGHTS. IF A SHOOTER CHOOSES TO USE OPTICS THAT SHOOTER WOULD THEN SHOOT THE SLOW FIRE COURSE WITH A SMALLER TARGET, SIMILAR TO AN NRA SLOW FIRE TARGET. IF A SHOOTER CHOOSES THEY MAY SHOOT IRON SIGHTS ONE WEEK AND OPTICS THE NEXT.
