Day 9 - 8/2/05
Today we finished our last day of formal training (we hope).  We had a final opportunity to reinforce all of the obedience training we have learned. We also worked quite a bit on behavior disruption with the command "touch", and did some good "off-leash" work'. In the afternoon Scott had a chance to learn 'Stand' and how to teach Casey to alert when the ventilator disconnects. Grandma and Grandpa Tiel finally left for their vacation on the Outerbanks. We are so thankful for all their support over the last week and a half. Grandma Liz is still in town to help us get through the last couple days and the trip home.  Tomorrow we have our public access test and paperwork to fill out!
The whole class works on obedience every day, but the distractions get more difficult each time.   In this picture, Casey is in the middle, Marlin is to Casey's left then going counter clockwise are, Happy, Eli and Buddy. The little dog in the back is Gracie the amazing three-legged dog who is doing her best to get the other dogs to misbehave.  The only dog missing from this picture is Goldie, who was outside working one-one-one with one of the trainers at the time.  The one-on-one time with the trainers is invaluable!

Casey works on 'Down' outside this afternoon.
