It is hard to know exactly where day 5 ended and day 6 began since Connor did not sleep for even a second last night in the hospital. Casey visited Connor last night and was the hit of the PICU at Dayton Children's. All night long the nurses were arguing about who was cuter Connor or Casey. This morning we had a big suprise when Connor's tegretrol level was LOW. None of the Drs. in OH or NJ have ever seen someone (let alone a 28 pound child) metabolize that much tegretrol that quickly, so once again Connor puzzles everyone. The doctor's finally got a plan together and Connor got to come home to the hotel around 2pm this afternoon. He is slowly recovering from the events of the past two days and will have follow-up bloodwork done tomorrow and probably again on Tuesday. Please pray with us that his seizures would remain under control.
From a training standpoint Scott, Casey and Grandma Liz had a very busy day. The morning session (including lunch) was spent at the local mall practicing for the 'public access test' that we will take on Wednesday. Scott got some very good pointers from Jeremy and Casey made good progress on 'heel', which is one of the hard commands for her. After practicing restaurant skills during lunch at the mall we headed back to the training center for the afternoon. We worked on two new skills that are going to be very useful with Connor: 'Lap' and 'Touch'. Lap is a command used for comforting and companionship and Touch is used for behavior disruption. Casey also got her very own harness and vest that you can see in the pictures below. |
