See
the tree, how big it´s grown, but friend,
It
hasn’t been too long, it wasn’t big.
I
laughed at her and she got mad
The
first day that she planted it, was just a twig.
Then
the first snow came and she run out
To brush
the snow away, so it wouldn’t die.
Came
running in was all excited slipped
And
almost hurt herself and I laughed till I cry.
She
was always young at heart,
Kind
of young and kind of smart, and I love her so.
I
surprised her with a puppy,
Kept
me up all Christmas Eve two years ago.
And
it would sure embarass her
When
I came in from working late cause if I would know.
That
she’d be sitting there and crying,
Crying
over sad and silly late late show.
And
honey, I miss you - honey, I miss you.
And
I’m being good - I´m being good.
I’d
love to be with you - I´d love you to be with
you.
If
only I could - If I only could.
She
wrecked the car and she was sad and so afraid
That
I’d be mad but what the heck.
Though
I pretend hard to be
Yes, you
can say she’s soft to me and what my neck.
I
came home unexpectedly and caught her crying needlessly
In
the middle of the day.
And
what was in the early spring
When
flowers bloom and robbins sing she went away.
And
honey, I miss you - honey, I miss you.
And
I’m being good - I´m being good.
I´d
love to be with you - I´d love you to be with
you.
If
only I could.
One
day while I was not at home
While
she was there and all alone the angels came - angels
came.
Now
all I have is memories of honey
And I
wake up nights and call her name - call her name.
And
now my life’s an empty state,
Where
honey lived and honey played and love grew up - love sweet
love.
And
small tot passes overhead
And
cries down on that flower bed that honey loved -
how she loved.
And
see the tree, how big it’s grown,
But
friend, it hasn’t been too long, it wasn’t big –
da-da-da
I
laughed at her and she got mad
The
first day that she planted it, was just a twig…
