| June 5, 2000 I will be sending an update after my doctor appointment but I wanted to send pictures of the nursery so far. We are getting a new crib skirt and bumper pad to match the sheet on the crib ( that should be in this week) and we need to get a changing pad for the changing table and we plan to hang a mirror (across the length of where the changing pad will go) over the dresser. We also need to add two corner shelves between the window and changing table. Plus my mom is coming up next weekend with the curtains. But - other than that the room is done: June 6, 2000 I am at the beginning of my eighth month and all is well.... I just returned from the doctor office. All is looking good. I think I may have even lost two pounds. I have plenty so there is no need to worry. I measured right on target too (she measures my uterus in centimeters to determine how well the baby is growing). I asked her if there is any way to tell whether I will be early or not. She told me that during my last month of pregnancy she will be doing some other measuring/testing and it will help determine my date of delivery better. She also told me that she will be on vacation the week that I am due 8/13 - 8/19. I am going to have an appointment to meet two other doctor's that she shares patients with. I'm somewhat familiar with the names because I know other people who go to them. And, who knows - maybe he will be early. I'm not too worried about it. People have explained to me that the nurses usually help you through most of the delivery and the doctor is only there for the final "push". I hope everyone is doing well and I will continue to keep you updated. My next appointment is Tuesday, June 20th. June 20, 2000 I just returned from the doctor and all is well. I gained 1 1/2 pounds - so I'm up to a total of 17 1/2. She measured my "belly" and it's measuring right on the mark. I'm still feeling great and getting very anxious. I spent some time talking to the Doctor about some of my labor and delivery concerns. As some of you may know my labor and delivery ideas have done a "180" in the past seven months of pregnancy. Originally, I wanted to receive an epidural as soon as possible and feel nothing. I only wanted to check-in, have a baby, check-out and feel no pain. Now - I have decided that I want to experience everything. I'm not saying that I look forward to pain, pain and more pain. But, I'm all for letting things happen as naturally as they should and letting labor progress at it's own pace without forcing anything. My doctor explained that she doesn't do anything out of convenience for her and it's always the mother's concerns that come first, well that and the health of the baby of course. Brian and I are working on a birth plan to detail all the little things for us and we should be turning that in within the next month. My doctor told me that she is going to be on vacation the week I'm due. My next appointment is with a different doctor - one that I may end up with if I deliver on schedule (which I plan to). Brian and I are also going to be seeing a pediatrician for an initial visit in about 2 weeks. So - things are rolling right along. We are more than 1/2 way through our Birthing Classes. Our sixth class is this Thursday and then there are only two more after that. We have already had one person have their baby from the class! I've also decided to be a full-time mom and I don't plan to come back to work for at least a year after Alexander is born. However, I do plan to do some work out of the house for about 10 hours a week and I have started to look into some possibilities for that. Well - that seems to sum up how we're doing. I'll keep you posted! I have attached a few pictures of me and the finished nursery (our bumper pad is on back-order and I still need to get a changing pad, other than that it's done and just waiting for the baby!) My next appointment is July 6th with one of the back-up doctors, Dr. Arvin. |
