Review:

Abrahamic Covenant- land, nation, blessing

Joshua leads in fulfilling Abrahamic covenant and the conquest of the Promised Land

Know the cycle of the judges: Walking with God – Sin – God’s judgement/correction – Israel’s

repentance – God sends a judge (Deliverance) – and back to walking with God

Be familiar with the stories of the judges Deborah, Gideon, Samson, and Samuel

Jesus was and is the final judge – He delivers us from God’s punishment and judgement as we

repent and accept His offer of forgiveness. Jesus is also the final and eternal king of

Israel.

Know these Old Testament books: their order, category, and short summary

and Offerings), Numbers (Wilderness Wanderings), Deuteronomy (Second Law)

History – Joshua (Conquering the Land), Judges (7 Cycles)

Poetry – Proverbs (Wisdom)

Concentrate on:

Jesus fulfills the Law, is our sacrificial substitute (the Lamb of God), and in Him we are made right

with God.

God offers salvation to all people – to all who will humbly acknowledge they need it

Matthew 5 contains a new "set of commandments" in the attitudes we have towards God and others

Towards God:

poor in spirit - knowing we need God

mournful – comforted by God

meek - power under God’s control

hungry for righteousness – likeminded as God

Towards others:

merciful – leaving revenge to God

pure – upright

peacemakers – as much as it relies on you

persecuted – for sharing the gospel

We are called salt – flavoring, preserving the lost, and making them thirsty for God

We are called light – showing the way to God and shining in the darkness

True disciples trust in God, not money, not fame, not other idols. Idolatry is worship of a man or

man made things instead of God

Those who follow Christ will be rewarded both in this life and in the life to come.
