YINGST by Donovan Yingst Mon Nov 25 1991 ------------------------------- My migrating ancestor was Johann Henrich JUENGST, b. 20 May 1736, Herborn, Hessen-Nassau, Preussen, GER. He came to America in 1766 and settled near Lebanon in then Lancaster Co., PA. His second child was Conrad Peter JUENGST, b. 1765, Weisel, Pfalz, GER. I descend from Abraham, b. 10 Jan. 1775, Lebanon, Lancaster Co., PA. I have family data back to Henne der JUENGST, b. ca. 1400, Niedernethphen, Wesfalen, Preussen, GER. He is the earliest, determinable JUENGST ancestor of my line. This JUENGST family came to Germany from Hungary sometime prior to 1400. I question that your Peter YINGST was born in Switzerland. More likely, he came from Germany and could easily be Peter Conrad YINGST. The JUENGST surname changed to YINGST in the very early 1800's. Two other variations still found in PA are YIENGST and YEINGST. I had some family data for Conrad Peter, but lent it to a distant cousin here in Boise some time ago. I will call her and get it back. I can send you much more by mail. Let me know what you want and I will get it together.
