WRIGHT by Dave Bradshaw Wed Nov 28 1990 ------------------------------- There is a book in the Ottawa Public Library entitled THE WRIGHTS. It is the story of the WRIGHT family that came to the Ottawa/Hull area and settled it in the 1800's. The WRIGHT name in Hull was very big then as Philimon Wright was one of the largest landowners around. The book traces the family from Woburn, Mass to the Ottawa/Hull area. It was written by Patrick M. O Evans, Box 123, RR1, Chelsea, Que., J0X 1N0, phone (819) 827 2765. All that info from the flyleaf. Lorraine, I recently found an Abel Wright in my line. I'm not sure where he was born, but he lived in Thetford VT in 1790. He had several children born to him in Thetford, and a few of them are buried there. His eldest son was also named Abel, but most of the family seems to have left the area. I dont know where they went. My ancestor was Irena WRIGHT the youngest child of Abel Sr. She stayed on in Thetford and married first a HOLDRIDGE and then Joseph PUTNAM. I have more info and exact dates I can look up if you are interested. Anyway, this is in response to your msg of 19 Jul 91 which arrived here after I left on 2 wks vacation. I'm slowly trying to get caught up. I do not find your James WRIGHT and Asenoth WATERBURY in my database. Sure would love to enter your WRIGHTs though -- never know when something will connect. I checked the WRIGHT books that I have here at home also and did not find them. The New England WRIGHTs were a huge family -- and probably more than one family. Most seem to descend from Deacon Samuel who was born in England and died here in 1665, but there are other immigrant ancestors who had large families also. I'm not bothering to collect the SOUTHERN Wrights as they seem to be of different origin. But I am definitely interested in any New England WRIGHT families. Hope to hear from you -- my address is P.
