Weekes/Weeks by Charles Johnson 11 Feb 1990 ------------------------------------------------ born in Devonshire, England and immigrated to Dorchester, Mass. in 1635. There is a tradition that four brothers came together , and that one of them drowned landing in Mass. George married Jane CLAPP, who was the sister of Roger CLAPP. Roger CLAPP came with the first party of colonist in the ship "Mary and John." George was a surveyor and farmer by trade. The exact location of his home in Dorchester, Mass. is unknown, however history reports that he lived in the "1st division of the Cow Walk." The spelling of WEEKES was changed in the course of one or two generations, as it is spelled on the gravestone of Ammiel WEEKS in 1679. George WEEKES died on 28 Dec. 1650 in Dorchester, Mass. Branches of the family are believed to be living in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Louisana, Washington DC, Texas, as well as nearly all the northern, middle, and western states. I am a descendant of George WEEKES son, Ammiel WEEKS, and would love to hear from anyone researching this line. Charles L. Johnson 3905 Dakota Trail, Lake Worth, Tx. 76135, (817) 237-6047.
