Also no readily apparent information in Strafford County Deeds. I did find the death record at the NH vital rcords office apparently for both but there are inconsistancies with the information you provided. David VARNEY died at Tuftonborough, NH 17 Aug 1872 at the age of 71. He is listed as having been born in Wakefield and was a farmer. The record says that he was a widower indicating his wife died before 1872. Lucy VARNEY, daughter of John and Mary SMITH, died at Tuftonborough 23 May 1881 aged 79Y 11m 22d. She was listed as having been born in Lebanon and as a married lady rather than a widow. The deaths in Tuftonboro (current spelling) are why nothing was found in Strafford County where Rochester is located. You would have to look in Ossipee in the Carroll County records. There was no record of their marriage or his birth in the VR office but some of the records there are spotty.
