Benjamin LM>TUCKER b. c 1704/5 Massachusetts d. 1781 Middleboro, Mass. LM>Were there 2 Benjamin TUCKERS in that area at the time? Linda- unfortunately, I couldn't find the parents of Benjamin Tucker in my searches, but I did find a lot of useful info that might be of use to your notes. The info came from a book called History of the Town of Middleboro, Massachusetts by Thomas Weston which I found locally. All of this comes in a chapter which deals exclusively with the First Church of Christ in Middleborough. The following is from church records. From the text... "In November, 1745, Benjamin Tucker and Gershom Cobb were chosen deacons. Benjamin Tucker joined the church March 24, 1729, and died July 9, 1781, in his seventy-sixth year. He had held the office of selectman of Middleboro for the years 1748, 1749, 1750, 1751, and 1752. He was town treasurer in 1744, and representative to the General Court in 1746. He was a coroner for the county in 1754, 1755, and 1762." Also from the church register: husb - Benjamin Tucker wife - Sarah Woodward , d. March 13, 1779 , age 67 son - Woodward , m. Mercy Tinkham , d. April 12 1761 , age 28 dau - Sarah , unmarried , d. April 11, 1773 , age 42 son - Benjamin Jr. , b. 1738 , m. Mary Thomas 1760 , displaced to Randolph, VT , d. age 77? son - Samuel , m. Hannah Dunbar , d. Oct. 29, 1820 , age 75 (Hannah d. Nov. 1, 1838 , age 83) also: Jedidah Warren, widow of Nathaniel, m. 1767 Benjamin Warren, father of Jedidah, d. Jan. 1802, age 81 Jedidah Tupper, mother of Jedidah, d. Oct. 20, 1807, age 83 Samuel Warren, father of Benjamin Eleanor Billington, mother of Benjamin I am assuming that Nathaniel wasn't a member of the church, as he was not on the records, only Jedidah his wife. With all of the titles Benjamin held, it would seem that someone in Middleboro must have his records. I couldn't locate a state census here in Pittfield to find out if if there was another Benjamin, but I did read about other Tuckers in the history of the town (not a Robard or Manesseh though). The author says that you must remember to add 10 days to the church records prior to 1700, and 11 days between 1700 and Sep. 2, 1752, in order to correct the old dating. Hope some of these facts have helped. BTW, I never saw Benjamin listed as any more than a deacon.
