TRUE family data by Jerry Smith Tue Jul 02 1991 ------------------------------- HENRY TRUE, supposedly from near Huddersfield, is thought to be the first of the name to immigrate to the US (1630-35), coming to Salem, Mass. Dr. Henry A. True of Marion Co., Ohio wrote an early history of the immigrant's family in 1864. There was a TRUE genealogy published by Charles W. TRUE Jr. of 9324 McFall Dr., El Paso, Texas 79925 in 1984 called 'Some Henry TRUE Descendants on the Frontier'. I was in contact with him around that time and he was willing to exchange data on TRUEs. Another fellow, Arthur W. TRUE, 205 N. Jackson, Arlington, Virginia 22201, was also interested in corresponding about the family. (Neither was able to help me with my CATHERINE TRUE, born ca 1818 in Ohio, however! Her family was from Pennsylvania, and before that possibly Maryland and ??) Although I was never in contact with her, Mrs. Odessa Isbell Morrow, Rt. 2, Box 191, Pilot Point, Texas 76258, published a book about descendants of Martin TRUE of Virginia, born about 1755. There was another researcher of the same time frame interested in Kentucky TRUEs: Mrs. Maurice Miller, Rt. 6, Frankfort, Kentucky. And there was a fellow who was supposedly acting as a 'clearinghouse' for TRUE data, Don Lawse of Rt. 1, Box 300K, Scottsbluff, Nebraska 69361; however I wrote to him a couple of times over the years and never got any response. There was a Stephen TRUE living near San Francisco in the late 60's who had collected a large volume of TRUE data; somehow a divorce caused him to put the work aside and Arthur, mentioned above, was trying to find some way to arrange for the collection's safekeeping. Art mentioned (in the mid 80's) that donations might be solicited to help out but I heard no more from him. I suspect that he was 'elderly' at the time.
