I have a John Wm. TRIPP (no 'E' on the end) b. in >Fayette Co., IA in April 1862. He married Nancy J. VOSHELL b. 1867 >also in Fayette Co., IA. >They are recorded as still being in Fayette >Co., in 1910 census. At that time they had 10 children. The youngest >being Earl TRIPP. Are these names familiar ? Hope so! My TRIPPs were in Story Co., IA. My g-grandfather was Henry Webster TRIPP, b. May 1839 in NY. He married Eliza FORD circa 1866/67, b. 1844 in NY, and they were in Story Co., IA by 1870. Unfortunately, I don't know who Henry's parents were, nor do I know if he had any siblings. I also can't seem to locate him between 1839 and 1870. So far I have been unsuccessful in finding a marriage record. (The marriage date is unsupported family history and estimated from the date of birth of the first child). Henry and Eliza had the following children: George Ernest, b. 1869, IA; William Adelbert (my grandfather), b. 1871 in Story Co; Mary Belle, b. 1874, IA; Lillie May, b. 1875, IA; Lucy Adell, b. 1876, Story Co.; Jessie E., b. 1880, IA; and Charles H., b. Story Co. Henry and Eliza moved to Colorado around 1908 to live with their son Charles. Henry died in Colorado in 1915, although he is buried in Ames, Story Co., IA. Colorado has no record of his death, however. Actually, your TRIPP names do sound familiar to me. I'm wondering if you and I have been in contact before. I used to (and still do occasionally) participate in the Prodigy Genealogy Bulletin Board. Also some other network genealogy echos. Perhaps we have met on one of those. Anyway, I'll keep your names on file, and if I run across anything in Fayette Co., I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for responding to my tagline!
