PIERCE, TREXLER by Amy Schmoyer 27 Feb 1990 ------------------------------------------------ A few years ago, I purchased "The Trexler Family and related kin" published in 1972 by John Trexler Warren. The book deals with John Peter Drechsler, who sailed from London in 1709 and settled in the "Mohawk Valley" area of New York. John Peter Drechsler was one of the group of Germanic farmers the English recuited to settle the unsettled regions of the Colony of what is now New York State. He was in New York for several years but in 1720 can be found in Pennsylvania, in the area that became Berks Co. I looked for your Francis A. Drexler on the long-shot that the author had included others of the Trexler name. But found nothing. John Peter Drechsler is said to have been born in Dettingen, on the Mainz River, in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. I suppose for the sake of not confusing the modern reader, J. T. Warren chose to use all modern day geographic references. I don't have access to any period maps of that area, so don't know how it would have been referred to in 1709 or 1680 the date of John Peter's birth. +==========================================================+ AMY SCHMOYER researching RINKER, SINGER, FRENCH, CARNEY, WRIGHT, COMSTOCK, CHRISTMAN, HUSEMAN, DEPPE, BAUER in Carbon, Monroe, Wyoming, Luzerne & Northampton Counties, PA. +==========================================================+ * Origin: Southern Crossroads 214-423-1498 HST/DS | SDS (1:124/4115.0)
