SWAUGER

         I am interested in John SWAUGER (SWAUGER is my wife's
         family).  He married Elizabeth Baer and they lived in
         Somerset Co., PA, when their first son John B. was born.
         John B. was my wife's 2G-grandfather.  I have traced the
         BAER fmaily back farther, but have been unable to find
         anything about John W.'s ancestors.

         I have searched the land records, wills, deeds etc. in
         Allegany amd Garrett counties and have military records on
         John B. and Isaac, who was also a son of John W. and
         Elizabeth.  I have Elizabeth's will and the reason that John
         had no will is that he deeded all his property to her before
         he died.

         The information I need concerns John before he lived in
         Garrett County--his parents, birthplace, etc.  I do know
         that Elizabeth was born in Brothers Valley, Somerset County,
         PA, but I have no records on John's parents or birthplace.

         We have visited the Swauger Cemetery in New Germany.  It is
         in New Germany State Park, which was the Swauger farm and
         mill, and we have pictures of the graves.

         We did not know anything about Arthur SWAUGER, so we shall
         try to find out if he was John's brother and if there are
         any records of his parents.

         What names in the Garrett county area are you interested in?
         Are there any SWAUGERs in your family or did you search your
         reference books just for my information?  I will be glad to
         share any information I have with you if you will send me
         your names.
