The Stewart information I have came from copies of 5 pages of "The Stewrat Clan Magazine" I received from the Historians Office of Wayne Co. NY. They were copies of copies received by them a few years ago from another researcher. Jabez Steward b. 1770, had 10 children. 7 relocated to Mich., 1 to Ill., and 2 have no location given. I don't see a New York City connection, but will keep your message on file. Hopefully we will get some -fill in the blanks- help. Jack Fitzpatrick, 65 Wellington Av. Its full of a lot of little mysteries - because he did not fully explain everything and did not give very many sources and I suppose he was trapped by not being able to find out all that I would like for him to have known. His first mystery goes this way: "About the year 1750 Mr. Stewart, while yet a boy, was kidnapped by his uncle in Ireland and brought to the State of New York. The object of the Uncle was to get possession of his estate, which was a large fortune. In crossing the ocean they encountered a bad storm and the Uncle was always afraid to go back to complete the task and get the money. This information came from Mary Jane (Moore) Cutsinger who lived in Sullivan Indiana." Mary Jane was the dau of Valentine and Eliza Moore who were married in Cleves Ohio near Cincinnati by Wm Henry Harrison who later became president. Valentine was the son of Orson Moore and Kesiah Stewart, the dau of the John Stewart. Valentine was born Oct 10, 1810, I think in Butternuts NY (now Morris). Kesiah was born 1775 and died July 15, 1818, I think in Livonia NY, before Orson moved his family to the Cincinnati area about 1830. Who was the Uncle? Did John have any other children? Whom did he marry? Where? When. Orson was in the militia near Butternuts Ny about 1800-1806 and was a Captain. He may have met John S. there and married Kesiah and both moved to Livonia. I have some records on Orson there. Please contact Don Moore, 1300 Fairview Ave. Columbus, OH 43212-3309 or phone 614-486-4425. I have a lot more on these Moores./ --- * Origin: AdopTriad BBS - (614)885-5912 - Columbus, Ohio (1:226/570)
