Melchior (Melchor) SNYDER Sr was born 17 Jan 1797 in Hamilton Twp,
Northampton Co PA.  His wife, Susanna -----, was born about 1800
in PA.  They were married abt 1820.  Their son, Melchior Jr was
born in Tompkins Co NY on 16 Feb 1838 and was living with his
parents in the town of Lansing, Tompkins Co NY per the 1850
census.  In the 1860 census Melchoir Jr and his wife Adelaide
LABAR (of whom I have considerable genealogy) were living in the
town of Lansing and Susannah, his mother (age 59) was living with
them.  Apparently Melchior Sr died before 1860.

       The father of Melchor Sr was Johannes Schneider md Louise
Konradin in 1787.  I have the birth records of their children born
in Hamilton Twp Northampton Co PA.  Per meager info I have about
Johannes he is supposed to be of Dutch parentage.  He had served
in the Prussian Army as an ensign.  Upon discharge he came to
America where he joined General Washington at Valley Forge and
attained the rank of Lt Colonel.  It is said that he later served
in the New York Militia. Johannes is supposed to have came from
Dusseldorf, Westfalen, Germany.   When, what ship, where married,
etc not known.

      Any info (births, marriages, deaths, burials) on the Snyder
families above or their ancestors will be greatly appreciated. 
Does anyone know who the historian for the Lansing area of
Tompkins Co NY might be?  Thanks!

I noted your message regarding SNYDER families in Tompkins Co. NY, 
since I have SNYDERS in my ancestry from there also.  I know there 
were many families of that name but don't know of the connections 
between them.  I have a cousin who is a genealogist, town historian 
(for town of Caroline, Tompkins Co.), and who has SNYDER ancestors in 
both her mother's and father's lines.  I know she has more information
